Margaret and Tom were married at the Martha Mary Chapel in Sudbury and then walked down the road to celebrate at the grounds of the Wayside Inn. These locations were really important to them both so we made sure to take ample time to use the surroundings in our photos,and did it all before the ceremony. I prefer taking photos before the wedding ceremony because we aren’t rushed and we all get to enjoy cocktail hour later. I think its a bummer when the wedding party all has to run and get photos right when the party is getting started. Photographically the cocktail hour is also a great time to capture the guests as they mingle around the space – its much better than during the reception when everyone is seated with forks in hand and talking to the same five people all night.

The Martha Mary Chapel is across from a Grist Mill which is a picture-perfect spot for a New England wedding. There is a working water wheel and often a tour guide who can show you the inner workings of the mill.

Gibbet Hill Wedding : Mikki + Rick

Gibbet Hill is a gem of a wedding spot in Groton, MA where a bride and groom can be married in a rustic but elegant barn surrounded by rolling hills of green grass and, if timed right, gorgeous colors of a new england autumn. Mikki and Rick were married in October and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day for us. The trees were blooming in all sorts of fiery reds and oranges while the sky above was a perfect blue – plus the temperature was pretty damn near perfect for October.

Mikki got dressed in a room in the barn’s basement and then she and I walked up for a special meeting with her future husband who was hiding among the ruins of a stone castle that overlooks Gibbet Hill. We spent about fifteen minutes getting some formals with the two of them, then we headed back down to the barn for larger family photos near the barn.

The wedding ceremony took place in Gibbet Hill’s enclosed deck and then we moved into the red barn for the rest of the night. Here are some photos from that day.

Lancaster Church and Clinton Hall Wedding : Cecile and Thom

Cecile and Thom were lucky to be surrounded by so many childhood friends all day. The whole wedding party really clicked with the same energy that I had such a blast spending the day with them all. We started first at Cecile’s parents house where she had her makeup and hair done and then put on her dress. The ceremony took place at a First Church of Christ in Lancaster, MA. Then we drove to a wonderful grassy hill bordering the Lancaster Town Forest. We were surrounded by the color of October in New England. The gang had fun horsing around up there and gave me lots of great moments to capture with my camera. After the formal photos we celebrated at the Town Hall in Clinton, MA which was so well lit and decorated that it felt like a four star hotel in Boston. Cecile and Thom’s posse really burned up the dance floor that night.

Hellenic College Brookline : Jenn and Jay

Jenn and Jay introduced me to a jewel of a locale for weddings – the Hellenic College and the Cathedral Center in Brookline. Its near the Larz Anderson Park where we all gathered to shoot family formal and the bride and groom. This spot is great because it rolling hills, weeping willows, shimmering pond and of course the really unique stone gazebo tucked into the side of the pond. After the wedding formals we headed to the Hellenic Cathedral Center and were surrounded by friends and family and shade trees while Jenn and Jay were married in the back “yard” of the center. The lighting was wonderful at the time – the sun was beaming through the trees on everyone’s back. Big smiles were also beaming on everyone’s faces which made photographing this wedding a real joy.

Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, MA : Becca and Kevin

This was a scorcher of a day in the sun but we had such a gorgeous setting: namely rolling green hills and blue skies, that I barely noticed. Becca and Kevin had fun with their wedding day. It was my first wedding with a cotton candy machine, and they brought a bit of themselves into many details such as a cool lego cake topper, fan-shaped ceremony programs and edible green centerpieces full of herbs and berries.

Greek Orthodox Wedding at Regency Hotel in Westford

Lia and Frank started their day getting ready among their friends and wedding party. I shot with a second photographer to cover the two locations and large guests list appropriately. The guys wanted to have fun for after they were all dressed and requested a “Reservoir Dogs” shot which I never pass up – seeing how that was an excellent movie. We all met at the wonderful Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell. After an amazing ceremony, we all traveled in style in a sweet party limousine to the hotel, the Regency Hotel in Wesftford, MA. Due to the rain we had to squeeze our formals into a few corners of the hotel lobby and “picture room. Once that was done everyone partied in the ballroom with a live band, lots of Greek traditions and plenty of excellent food.

Habitat Mass Audubon : Cori and Todd

Cori and Todd were married at one of my favorite locations near Boston: The Habitat in Belmont. The Habitat is a gorgeous wildlife sanctuary run by the Mass Audubon Society. Its nestled in the woods in Belmont Massachusetts just a short drive from Boston. I love it because almost everything is done outside, under shade surrounded by a nice variety of trees, shrubs and flowers.

Jessica and Bo were married in Gloucester, MA at St John’s Episcopal Church and then they celebrated the rest of the day at the Ocean View Inn right down the street. The ocean breeze was absolutely perfect all day – keeping us cool at the church and then outside under the blue sky during cocktails. We spent a little time near the rocky beach infront of the Inn for some formal family photos.
